AI answers, emergency help, blood donors and doctors for any phone in Bangladesh. All by SMS. No mobile data. No app. Ask on the phone you already have.
What happens when access to useful technology depends on having a smartphone and a reliable internet connection? In Bangladesh, that isn't always something people can depend on.
That question led to Barta, a project under Meera that makes AI-powered information and essential digital services available through something as simple as a message. It is built for low-connectivity places: 2G networks and feature phones, over ordinary SMS.
Useful technology shouldn't stop working when the internet does.
If you can send a text, you can ask Barta. Information shouldn't depend on a smartphone or a data pack.
Normal carrier SMS charges apply. Barta's gateway and AI service use the internet on your behalf; your phone only needs SMS service.

Text SOS, 999 or জরুরি, even with no data. Barta answers in milliseconds with the number to call, from a fixed list, never from AI.
Text BLOOD with a group and area. Barta replies with verified blood banks and volunteer donors nearby. Every number was entered and checked by a person, never generated by AI.
DONOR B+ Dhaka. Your number is shared only because you opted in.Text DOCTOR Mirpur to see hospitals near you, then BOOK H3 to take the next free slot. It works from a village with no data.
CANCEL and the reference.Android and iOS. Falls back to SMS when there's no internet, and one phone number is your identity everywhere.
For hospital front desks. Each desk sees only its own patients, and bookings made by SMS show up there.
Connecting learners and tutors, including people without regular internet.
Helping a lost item find its way home through the local community.
Keep this handy. Anything that isn't a code goes to Barta's AI.
Ordinary SMS, thoughtfully connected.
You need mobile network coverage and SMS. The Barta gateway and server connect to AI services over the internet for you.
Designed around ordinary SMS, so no smartphone is needed. Write in Banglish or English if your phone can't type Bangla.
Emergency numbers come from a fixed list, and blood contacts are checked by people. Barta can't call 999 for you, so it always points you to the official line.
SMS doesn't share GPS, so you describe where you are for directions. Barta can make mistakes; check important information.
Meera powers more than one product. Each one brings the same idea to a different place.
A question asked in Banglish on a button phone, answered in Bangla by SMS.
